The word "incense" came from the Latin word "to burn". Usage in everyday life can be traced back to ancient Egypt with its burial ceremonies, the elimination of demons and as an offering to the gods during rituals. Incense was used in India and other parts of South Asia as early as 3300 BC, and in ancient China in 2000 BC.
Some useful information about incense
Incense is an aromatic biological material that emits fragrant smoke while being burning. Made from plant materials and essential oils, incense is used to create an atmosphere, in festive celebrations, in therapy, prayer and meditation, in the composition of altars, in various ceremonies and rituals, at home and spa relaxation, themed studios, beauty salons and under many other circumstances. There are two types of incense:
- Direct burning - direct smoldering of the incense stick.
- Indirect combustion - incense requires a constant heat source to keep the substance burning.
Incense differs both by country of origin (Japan, India, Thailand, Nepal) and by brand. The most popular manufacturers in Ukraine are:
- Nippon Kodo;
- Shoyeido;
- Noppamas;
- Satya;
- Goloka;
- Golden Nag;
- Ayurvedic;
- Pushkar;
- Song of India;
- Stupa.
Among others, the Japanese company Nippon Kodo, which produces incense, inheriting ancient traditions, is rightfully considered the brightest representative of the unshakable culture of the "path of aroma". Incense sticks made from the most expensive ingredients are woody, floral, fruit, berry, and spiced. In shape, these are sticks, cones, spirals, “nerikoh” (author's craft incense in the form of small rolled balls) and loose aromatic mixtures.
